Shea Whigham portrays a stern social worker with a tumultuous history. Instead of allowing this to drive him into a downward spiral, he’s utilizing his unfortunate past to do some good by attempting to prevent children in difficult homes from experiencing the same problems he had. While assisting one of his customers (Olivia Munn) in keeping her daughter, he is compelled to meet her husband, who has lately been freed on parole and is out to avenge his drug-dealing boss (Frank Grillo). To be honest, it doesn’t look half bad, but it still gives off a direct-to-video impression. Maybe it’s because there aren’t any huge names in the lead roles. If this were to screen at a film festival, it might generate more buzz, especially given how much Shea Whigham is adored as a character actor. He gets to shine in a leading part here, even if it doesn’t feel like a role Liam Neeson should be playing at this point in his career. IMDB
